Community Groups

Cascade STEAM Community Groups convene aspiring, current, and retired professionals interested in a STEAM topic to connect with fellow community members, discuss technical topics, participate in community building and community service programs, and collaborate with organizations in shared purpose on community projects.

Current Community Groups

Community Groups are made possible through the commitment of volunteer organizers and open collaboration of Partners. Scheduled events can be found on the Cascade STEAM Meetup Page and discussion at the Cascade STEAM Community Hub (Discord).

Community Groups include:

Artificial Intelligence (AI): artificial intelligence (AI) — tools, research, local deployment, and community impact
Citizen Science: science, in particular life sciences and environmental monitoring
Cyber: cybersecurity
Data Engineering: data engineering, including data storage and access, machine learning (ML), and large language models (LLMs)
Engineering: engineering, including robotics
Open Source: everything open source software and hardware, including GNU/Linux
Spectrum: all things wireless, including WiFi, Meshtastic and Meshcore, and Amateur Radio

Bellingham Linux Users Group: Linux
Bellingham Tableau User Group: Tableau Software and related data analytics topics
The RaspberryPi Club: Bellingham Technical College technology students sharing what they know

Are your interests in alignment of the mission of Cascade STEAM? Create a Cascade STEAM Community Group! We offer shared resources to organizers to simplify community collaboration, event management, and event promotion to help organizers focus on their positive community impact.

Entry on the Cascade STEAM website to raise awareness.
Inclusion in the monthly Cascade STEAM Community Update.
A dedicated channel on our Community Hub (Discord) for discussion.
Meetup to manage and promote your events to the public.
Zoom to host virtual events with Zoom Pro features.
LinkedIn to promote your activities to professional networks.
Facebook to promote your activities to personal networks.
Google Workspace with an organization email address and shared community group email address and Google Drive Shared Folder to organize collaboration.
